Work & Word

Terms & Conditions

Clear expectations. Professional service. Polished results.

These terms explain how Work & Word projects are scoped, paid for, completed, revised, delivered, and handled. They apply unless Work & Word and the client agree to different terms in writing for a specific project.

1Services

Work & Word (“WW”) provides professional writing, editing, career-document, administrative support, and business-documentation services to individuals, professionals, entrepreneurs, and businesses. WW’s services are designed to assist Clients with creating, improving, organizing, and presenting clear, polished, professional, and functional written materials.

Services may include, but are not limited to:

Each project is limited to the specific services, deliverables, and scope agreed upon between WW and the Client before work begins. The applicable scope may be confirmed through a quote, proposal, invoice, email, message, order confirmation, or other written communication and may identify the deliverables, fees, estimated timeline, revisions, and any specific Client requirements.

Services or deliverables not included in the agreed scope are not automatically included in the project. Requests that materially expand or change the original scope may be considered additional work and may require additional fees and/or an adjusted completion timeline.

WW reserves the right to decline or discontinue services that fall outside its normal service offerings, require professional licensing or specialized expertise that WW does not provide, or otherwise cannot reasonably be performed within the agreed scope.

Additional terms regarding Client responsibilities, revisions, payment, cancellations, intellectual property, professional-service limitations, use of technology, and other conditions applicable to WW’s services are provided in the sections below.

2Project Quotes & Scope Approval

Project pricing and scope will be based on the information, requirements, and materials provided by the Client during the intake and quoting process. Before work begins, WW will confirm the applicable services, deliverables, price, and any material project requirements or agreed deadlines.

The Client is responsible for providing complete and accurate information regarding the requested services before approving the project. WW may rely on such information in determining the applicable scope, pricing, and anticipated timeline.

Any request or circumstance that materially changes or expands the agreed scope may require a revised quote, additional fees, and/or an adjusted timeline. This may include additional documents or deliverables, substantially new content, changes in target roles or intended use, significant restructuring, or requirements not disclosed during the intake process.

WW will notify the Client of any material additional charges before performing out-of-scope work. WW is not obligated to perform work outside the agreed scope unless the revised scope and any applicable additional fees are accepted by the Client in writing.

3Payment Terms

Following submission of the Client’s intake form, WW will review the requested services and confirm the applicable scope and price. Any services listed at a starting price or requiring customization will be quoted based on the scope and complexity of the project.

Full payment is required before WW begins substantive work. Payment constitutes the Client’s authorization for WW to proceed with the confirmed scope of services.

Submission of an intake form does not guarantee acceptance of a project, availability, or a specific delivery date. WW is not obligated to begin work or reserve a requested deadline until payment has been received.

Any services, revisions, or deliverables requested outside the confirmed scope may be subject to additional fees, which will be communicated to the Client before the additional work is performed.

Any approved third-party costs are the responsibility of the Client and are separate from WW’s service fees unless otherwise agreed in writing.

4Turnaround & Delivery

Standard resume projects are generally targeted for completion within 3-5 business days after required payment and complete intake materials are received.

Business-documentation timelines depend on scope, complexity, number of deliverables, client responsiveness, and availability. The anticipated timeline will be communicated before work begins.

Turnaround estimates are not guarantees when delays are caused by incomplete information, client-requested changes, third-party dependencies, technical interruptions, or circumstances outside Work & Word's reasonable control.

Final deliverables will generally be provided electronically in the format identified for the project.

5Rush Services

Rush service may be available depending on project size and current workload. A rush fee may apply.

A rush timeline is not reserved until WW confirms availability and any required rush payment is received.

6Client Responsibilities

The client is responsible for providing complete, accurate, and timely information and for reviewing drafts carefully.

For career services, the client must verify employment history, dates, job titles, education, certifications, licenses, skills, accomplishments, metrics, and other professional claims.

For business documentation, the client must verify that procedures, roles, approvals, systems, requirements, and other operational information accurately reflect the client's actual business.

WW may improve wording, organization, structure, and presentation but will not knowingly fabricate credentials, experience, qualifications, accomplishments, business requirements, or factual information.

7Revisions

Unless otherwise stated, one reasonable revision round is included with a standard project.

Revision requests should be submitted within 7 calendar days after the initial draft is delivered and should identify requested changes as clearly as possible.

An included revision is intended to refine the agreed deliverable. It does not include a new resume targeted to a different career direction, a newly requested document, significant new source material, a complete change in project strategy, or other material expansion of scope.

Additional revision rounds may be billed separately. Standard additional revisions may begin at $25, but pricing may vary based on the amount and complexity of work requested.

8Client Delays & Inactive Projects

The Client is responsible for timely providing all information, materials, approvals, and feedback reasonably required for WW to perform the services. Any delay by the Client may result in a corresponding extension of the project timeline.

If the Client fails to respond to WW or provide requested information, materials, approvals, or feedback for thirty (30) consecutive calendar days, WW may place the project on inactive status.

Reactivation of an inactive project is subject to WW’s then-current availability and may require a revised timeline or additional fees if the project scope, requirements, or Client-provided information has materially changed.

9Refund Policy

Due to the customized nature of WW’s services and the commencement of work upon receipt of payment, all payments are final and nonrefundable.

No refund, whether full or partial, will be issued if the Client elects not to proceed with the services, no longer requires the services, fails to provide required information, materials, approvals, or feedback, or otherwise discontinues participation in the project after payment has been received.

If WW is unable to complete an accepted and paid project for reasons solely attributable to WW, WW will refund the portion of fees attributable to services not performed.

Nothing in this Section is intended to limit any rights or remedies that cannot be waived under applicable law.

10Career Services Disclaimer

WW does not guarantee interviews, employment, promotions, salary increases, recruiter responses, applicant-tracking-system rankings, or other employment outcomes.

Career documents are designed to present the client's truthful experience and qualifications clearly and professionally. Hiring and employment decisions are controlled by employers and other third parties.

11Business Documentation & Professional-Services Limits

WW provides writing, editing, administrative, and business-documentation support. Work & Word is not a law firm and does not provide legal representation, legal opinions, tax advice, or specialized regulatory advice.

Business policies, procedures, templates, trackers, and other documents may require review by the client's legal, HR, tax, compliance, privacy, information-security, accounting, or other qualified professionals depending on their subject matter and intended use.

The client remains responsible for determining whether specialist review or approval is required before implementing a document.

12Confidentiality & Sensitive Information

WW will use commercially reasonable care to protect non-public information, documents, materials, and other content provided by or on behalf of the Client in connection with the services (“Confidential Information”). WW will use Confidential Information solely as reasonably necessary to evaluate, perform, administer, and complete the requested services and for other purposes authorized by the Client.

WW will not intentionally disclose the Client’s Confidential Information to third parties except as reasonably necessary to perform the services, with the Client’s authorization, or as required by applicable law, regulation, court order, or other lawful process. Where third-party service providers, software, platforms, or technology are used in connection with the services, WW will exercise reasonable care in selecting and using such resources.

Confidential Information does not include information that: (a) is or becomes publicly available through no wrongful act or omission of WW; (b) was lawfully known to WW without an obligation of confidentiality before disclosure by the Client; (c) is lawfully obtained from a third party without restriction on disclosure; or (d) is independently developed without use of the Client’s Confidential Information.

The Client is responsible for limiting information submitted to WW to that which is reasonably necessary for the performance of the requested services. Unless expressly requested by WW and separately agreed in writing, the Client shall not provide passwords, authentication credentials, Social Security numbers, complete banking or financial-account credentials, full payment-card information, medical records, protected health information, or other highly sensitive personal or financial information that is not reasonably necessary for the project.

The Client is responsible for ensuring that it has the lawful right and authority to provide WW with any documents, personal information, confidential business information, or third-party materials submitted in connection with the services. WW will not be responsible for any unauthorized disclosure by the Client or for the Client’s submission of information that the Client was not authorized to provide.

WW may maintain Client materials and project files for a reasonable period as necessary for project administration, recordkeeping, backup, or legitimate business purposes. WW may thereafter delete or dispose of such materials in accordance with its ordinary business practices, except where continued retention is required by law or otherwise agreed in writing.

The Client acknowledges that electronic communications, cloud-based systems, file-transfer methods, and electronic storage inherently involve security risks and that no method of electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Accordingly, while WW will use commercially reasonable measures in handling Client materials, WW does not warrant or guarantee absolute security against unauthorized access, interception, loss, corruption, or other security incidents beyond WW’s reasonable control.

The Client should exercise reasonable care when transmitting confidential or sensitive information and should promptly notify WW if any information has been provided in error or requires special handling.

13Technology & Service Providers

WW may use professional software, cloud-based tools, communication platforms, document-processing services, and other technology or service providers as part of its ordinary workflow.

WW will exercise reasonable care in selecting and using such tools and will not knowingly use client information in a manner inconsistent with its confidentiality commitments.

Clients with specific technology, confidentiality, data-location, security, or third-party-processing restrictions must disclose those requirements before submitting sensitive materials or before work begins.

14Client-Provided Materials & Third-Party Rights

The client retains ownership of materials and information the client provides. The client represents that it has the right to provide those materials to WW for the requested project.

The client is responsible for identifying any restrictions that apply to third-party content, confidential information, employer-owned materials, trademarks, logos, or proprietary documents supplied for use in the project.

15Final Deliverables & Usage

Upon final delivery, the Client may use the customized final deliverables prepared specifically for the Client for the personal, professional, or internal business purposes for which they were created.

Unless otherwise expressly agreed in writing, the Client’s rights are limited to the final deliverables specifically identified within the agreed project scope. Drafts, preliminary versions, working files, internal notes, research materials, and other materials created or used in the course of performing the services are not considered final deliverables.

WW retains all rights, title, and interest in its pre-existing and independently developed materials, including general know-how, methodologies, processes, reusable templates, frameworks, document structures, formats, workflows, internal tools, techniques, and other materials that are not uniquely created from the Client’s Confidential Information (“WW Materials”).

To the extent any WW Materials are incorporated into a final deliverable, the Client is granted a non-exclusive right to use such materials solely as incorporated into and reasonably necessary to use the final deliverable for its intended purpose. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of WW Materials to the Client.

The Client may modify, reproduce, and use the customized final deliverable for its intended personal, professional, or internal business purposes. The Client may not sell, license, commercially distribute, or represent WW’s underlying templates, frameworks, methodologies, or other WW Materials as the Client’s own standalone product without WW’s prior written consent.

Editable, native, or source files will be provided only when expressly identified as part of the purchased service or agreed project scope.

WW may retain working copies and final versions of project materials for reasonable administrative, recordkeeping, backup, and business purposes, subject to the confidentiality obligations set forth in these Terms.

16Portfolio, Testimonials & Publicity

WW will not publicly disclose, publish, display, or use for advertising, portfolio, promotional, or marketing purposes any identifiable Client resume, confidential business document, proprietary information, company information, testimonial, or other Client-specific material without the Client’s prior consent.

WW may request permission to use Client feedback, testimonials, completed work, redacted excerpts, or anonymized examples for portfolio, educational, promotional, or marketing purposes. Any such permission is voluntary, and the Client may decline without affecting the services provided by WW.

Unless otherwise expressly authorized by the Client, any approved use of Client materials will be limited to the scope of the permission provided. Where permission is limited to anonymized or redacted use, WW will use reasonable efforts to remove information that directly identifies the Client before publication.

Nothing in this Section authorizes WW to disclose information otherwise protected under the confidentiality provisions of these Terms.

17Quality Review & Acceptance

WW will use commercially reasonable care in preparing and reviewing deliverables in accordance with the agreed project scope. The Client is responsible for promptly reviewing all drafts and final deliverables for accuracy, completeness, and suitability for the Client’s intended use.

The Client’s review should include, as applicable, names, dates, contact information, employment or business information, factual statements, figures, formatting, and any other Client-specific information contained in the deliverable.

The Client is responsible for identifying and communicating any errors, omissions, or requested corrections within the applicable revision period. WW may rely on the Client’s approval of a deliverable as confirmation that the Client has reviewed and accepted its content.

Delivery of a final document does not relieve the Client of responsibility for conducting an appropriate final review before submitting, publishing, distributing, adopting, implementing, or otherwise using the deliverable.

The Client remains solely responsible for the final use of, and any decisions made in reliance upon, the deliverable.

18Limitation Of Responsibility

WW will perform the agreed services with commercially reasonable care and in accordance with the scope confirmed with the Client. WW’s responsibility is limited to the professional writing, editing, administrative, and business-documentation services expressly included within the agreed scope.

WW is not responsible for any decision, action, omission, approval, rejection, determination, or other outcome made by an employer, recruiter, prospective employer, customer, vendor, governmental authority, regulatory body, financial institution, or other third party based upon or relating to any deliverable prepared by WW.

WW will be entitled to rely upon the accuracy and completeness of information, instructions, documents, and materials provided by the Client and is not responsible for independently verifying such information unless expressly included within the agreed scope. WW will not be responsible for errors, omissions, delays, losses, or adverse outcomes arising from inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or misleading information provided by the Client.

WW is further not responsible for any loss, claim, damage, or adverse outcome arising from: (a) the Client’s implementation, interpretation, or use of a deliverable; (b) any modification, alteration, or distribution of a deliverable after delivery by WW; (c) use of a deliverable for a purpose materially different from the purpose for which it was prepared; (d) failure by the Client to obtain legal, tax, accounting, financial, regulatory, human-resources, or other professional review where appropriate; or (e) circumstances or third-party actions beyond WW’s reasonable control.

The Client retains sole responsibility for reviewing and approving all final deliverables before use and for determining whether a deliverable is appropriate for the Client’s intended purpose.

19Communication

All communications relating to the services, including project instructions, scope confirmations, approvals, revisions, change requests, and other material project decisions, must be made in writing through email, electronic messaging, an intake form, or another written communication method accepted by WW.

WW may rely on written instructions, approvals, and information provided by the Client in performing the services. Any verbal discussion or instruction will not modify the agreed scope, deliverables, fees, or other project terms unless subsequently confirmed in writing.

The Client is responsible for maintaining current and accurate contact information and for timely responding to requests for information, materials, approvals, or feedback necessary for WW to perform the services.

WW is not responsible for delays or errors resulting from the Client’s failure to timely review or respond to written communications or from inaccurate or outdated contact information provided by the Client.

20Changes To These Terms

WW reserves the right to modify, amend, or update these Terms from time to time. Any revised Terms will apply prospectively to services or projects accepted after the effective date of the revised Terms.

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, the Terms in effect at the time WW accepts a project will govern that project through completion. Any subsequent modification to these Terms will not alter the terms applicable to an existing project without the written agreement of WW and the Client.

21Acceptance

By submitting payment for services after receiving, reviewing, or being provided access to these Terms, the Client acknowledges and agrees to be bound by these Terms and the applicable project scope, pricing, and other written project requirements communicated by WW.

The Client’s submission of payment constitutes acceptance of the applicable project terms and authorization for WW to commence performance of the services. A separate handwritten or electronic signature is not required unless specifically requested by WW.

Any written quote, invoice, intake confirmation, scope confirmation, or other project-specific written agreement issued or accepted by WW may supplement these Terms and will be incorporated into the terms applicable to that project.

In the event of a direct conflict between these Terms and a project-specific written term expressly agreed to by WW and the Client, the project-specific written term will control solely with respect to the subject matter of the conflict and the applicable project. All remaining provisions of these Terms will remain in full force and effect.
